Is it 'Pe-can" or "Pe-caun?' At Dairy Queen, Potato or "Po'-tah-toe"? Tomato or "Toe-mah-toe"? Pe-can or Pe-caun? Pronunciations may vary by geographic region, but tastes do not. And taste is the reason why pecans are at the center of Dairy Queen's newest soft-serve treat, the Pecan Praline Parfait available in Dairy Queen locations nationwide beginning on March 1st. The Pecan Praline Parfait is a rich, delectable dessert combining creamy smooth Dairy Queen vanilla soft serve, coated with rich New Orleans- style brown sugar praline sauce and sprinkled with lots of lightly roasted pecan pieces. "No matter how you choose to pronounce it, this delicious new treat from Dairy Queen is sure to be a favorite among pecan-lovers everywhere and is a great addition to our family of popular soft-serve treats," said Michael Keller, executive vice president of Marketing for International Dairy Queen, Inc.
In addition, during March, and in celebration of St. Patrick's Day, Dairy Queen will feature the new Mint Oreo Blizzard Flavor Treat as part of its Blizzard of the Month program. This smooth tasting treat, available only in March, blends creme de menthe topping and Oreo cookies with satiny DQ soft serve. The Blizzard of the Month program began in January and will continue with new, seasonal and featured flavors throughout the year. IDQ is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., and is part of the Berkshire Hathaway Inc. family, a company owned by Warren Buffet, the legendary investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. In making the acquisition of Dairy Queen, he said, "We have put our money where our mouth is." Buffet has been a regular visitor to his local Dairy Queen store for years. IDQ develops, licenses and services a system of more than 5,700 Dairy Queen stores in the United States, Canada and other foreign countries, offering dairy desserts, hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages.
